It happened while he was competing at a powerlifting meet in his Iceland gym in April 2023. However, after a successful surgery, he is all set to embark on the remarkable journey to reclaim his dominance over the sports.

In the wake of adversity, he did indeed emerge from the shadow. And well now, after months of practice, with the Arnold Classic approaching ahead, Hafthor Bjornsson is all set to shatter his deadlift record of lifting 1045 lbs.

The official Instagram page of Arnold Sports took to their wall and shared a picture of the Game of Thrones star Hafthor Bjornsson. He was seen all pumped on the stage of Rogue, wearing their shirt. They had also put up two statements that he had earlier mentioned on his social media platforms.

Denoting the questions to his audience, Hafthor Bjornsson wrote captions like, “Who wants to see 520kg?” and “My world record is 474kg. Will I beat that at Arnold’s this year?” These suggested that he was aiming at hitting a whopping 1146 lbs at the stage of the Arnold Classic.

As stated by the Arnold Sports page, he wishes to attempt a new Elephant Bar Deadlift World Record.

When he hit the gym initially, even after weeks of training, he was struggling to pull out a swift rep with 331 lbs bar. But he is grateful that because of his years of training, the Mountain has managed to develop a strong muscle-mind connection.
