Very few athletes in the world, let alone bodybuilders, have chosen a path for themselves and achieved every single goal they set out with perfection. Canadian IFBB bodybuilding legend Chris Bumstead is one of them. In his recent podcast appearance with Chris Williamson, Bumstead opened up about various things in life and bodybuilding in general. The 4x Mr. Olympia also talked about the age-old belief system in ‘Lone Wolf Sigma Male’, where the sigma or alpha male always goes alone and achieves his dreams and the beta seldom lags and relies on others. Bumstead’s nuanced, sensitive, and original approach to masculinity and his take on why that belief system is false earns plaudits from fans.

Chris Bumstead just named a bunch of people in his life who helped him get where he is today. There wasn’t a false sense of security in him and he knows exactly what’s important in life and what’s not. In today’s day and age, to speak with such tenderness and humility when talking about masculinity is something unheard of. Hence, fans couldn’t stop heaping praise on him.

During the interview, Chris Williamson asked Bumstead, “There is a meme at the moment of the sort of ‘Lone Wolf Sigma Male’ guy that’s making great things happen on his own”. Williamson continued, “I’m pretty sure that you are the footage that’s used over the top of a lot of these Sigma memes in any case. Could you do this on your own?” Williamson’s question almost made CBum smile before he gave an answer.

CBum said, “F*ck no”, without any hesitation. CBum has always lied on the opposite spectrum of arrogance and show-off. However, where most high-achievers might jump at the opportunity of showing off their hard work, and resilience and taking credit for themselves, Bumstead remembered to be grateful to those who actually helped him be who he is.

He continued, “I couldn’t do my YouTube without Calvin, I couldn’t have started my businesses without Maddie, I couldn’t be doing raw supplements without Dom and Matt, who are my partners in that, I wouldn’t be the man who I am without my dad, I wouldn’t be able to have gotten through my stresses without my sister… I feel so fu**king lucky”. CBum literally named every single human being in his life who helped him get to where he is, and even got emotional talking about them.
