The 4x Arnold Classic winner recently made headlines as he opened up about this under-confident approach by getting onto the sea during his competitive days.

In a recent interview hosted by Bloomberg INC., the interviewer asked him that during his competition days while going in to face competitors. The veteran bodybuilder used to leave his fans stunned with his confidence in his posing. Yet, he revealed that beneath the confident facade was a man who never believed he had a chance of winning any competition. “Never believed I was going to win,“ he said in the video.

Wheeler candidly shared his approach and mindset while stepping onto the competition stage. He revealed that while many people saw him as cocky and arrogant, he never believed that there was a chance of him getting his hands on any title.

Despite feeling under-confident, he donned an arrogant expression. This made the judges and audience believe that he was a dominant force. “I consider myself one of the world’s greatest chameleons.” This revelation gives us a glimpse of the psychological struggles that even the most accomplished individuals may face. However, this is not the first time when the legendary bodybuilder has opened up about his vulnerabilities. 

The consistency of Wheeler made the difference

The Sultan of Symmetry once confessed in an interview that he did not get the expected start to his career in bodybuilding. While his legacy includes many Arnold Sports Festival, the veteran had to face many struggles throughout his career. However, he was always consistent even when he didn’t get the desired results.  

The star deduced, “We all have different reasons why, different obstacles, but the one unifying factor is we all regret not doing something.” But the legendary bodybuilder remains optimistic and kept pushing his limits, which ended up in his favor. His candidate revelation shows that giving up should never be an option for someone who wants to reach the pinnacle of any field.
