“No One Would Know Who I Was”: Despite His Father’s Legendary Status, Sergio Oliva’s Bodybuilder Son Credits Another IFBB Pro for His Achievements

Bodybuilding star Sergio Oliva Jr. was born into a legacy that seemed destined to define his path in life. His father, famously known as “The Myth,” stands tall as the only bodybuilder to ever defeat the legendary Arnold Schwarzenegger at the prestigious Mr. Olympia competition. Even Junior Oliva has emerged as a formidable force in his own right. However, instead of relying solely on his father’s legacy, Sergio Jr. decided to credit his achievements to someone else. 

The 38-year-old recently made headlines as he took to Instagram to pay tribute to Chris “Acetate” Aceto, his mentor who played a pivotal role in shaping his career.

Oliva Jr. expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Chris Aceto for almost a decade of unwavering support, guidance, and mentorship. The series of pictures posted by Oliva Jr. serves as a visual chronicle of their journey together from their early days to recent triumphs. The heartfelt message accompanying the images spoke volumes about the impact Aceto had on his protégé.

He wrote that their partnership began with Sergio earning his pro card, followed by a remarkable debut in the professional circuit. From there, it was a journey marked by continuous victories, with Oliva Jr. consistently placing 1st or 2nd in the initial three years of his professional career. Their fruitful alliance led to top callouts and impressive placings in every competition Oliva Jr. participated in. No one would even know who I was if it wasn’t for him.”, Oliva wrote.

Oliva Jr speaks about his biggest support system

The bodybuilding legend’s son further stated that Aceto emerged as more than just a coach but a true mentor and positive male role model in Sergio’s life. “Even tho we aren’t going to work together anymore doesn’t change our personal relationship as Chris has been one of the only few positive male role models in my life and I owe him everything.“, he wrote. Having someone like Aceto in his corner provided Oliva Jr. with not only expert advice but also unwavering support and encouragement throughout his career.
