Sometimes small decisions can take your life in a different direction. Five-time Mr. Olympia Chris Bumstead knows this well. He recently shared a montage on his Instagram account showcasing how his life has turned since making a “small sacrifice.”

The montage displayed two phases of CBum’s life. The first phase is when he was in college, explaining how he “used to do a lot of dumb sh*t when I [he] was young.” He tagged the younger himself “Party Chris” and called him “Crazy.” But the king of Classic Physique changed his path, stopped parties, and wrote, “I don’t regret it for one main reason, I stopped before it was too late.”

“There’s something about leaving the party while the party is still fun,” says Jordan Peterson to five-time Mr. Olympia. Bumstead found this quote perfectly fitting for his life. The 29-year-old recalled the memories he made in his college days. But he had to leave those fun times behind and move forward. The Canadian bodybuilder compared this sacrifice to the success achieved and wrote, “In hindsight, it was a small sacrifice, but it was hard saying no to all these old things I used to love to do and built my identity around.”

The five-time Mr. Olympia has learned many things throughout his journey of transformation. “If there’s anything I’ve learned it’s that the scary decision is usually the right one,” wrote Bumstead. He further mentioned that he has done everything he never dreamed of doing.

CBum explained, “I never thought I’d be a bodybuilder, never thought I’d drop out of University, never thought I’d make it to the Olympia, never thought I’d meet the girl of my dreams, never thought I’d leave my home country, never thought I’d own a business, never thought I’d have a baby before I was 30… But here we are and I wouldn’t change a damn thing.

This is easily noticeable, even in the video. All of a sudden, there is a drastic change in personalities. The new and changed CBum just prioritized his family and goals. Earlier, he wrote a heartfelt message for his newborn daughter on his Instagram account.

A few days after the birth of Bumstead’s daughter, he posted a series of pictures of her birth and captioned the post, “There is only one thing that I dread, not to be worthy of my sufferings.” This is a quote the five-time Mr. Olympia read before the birth of his daughter and mentioned being a “little dramatic.”

The amount of fear she had about it all was a mirror for the amount of courage such a task would take,” wrote the king of Classic Physique. The five-time Mr. Olympia concluded the message by writing, “I hope that one day you can see the same strength I see in your mother, both in her and in yourself.” He added, “While I would love to shelter you from any and all pain, I will instead lovingly encourage you to take on the scary aspects of life with your head held high.”

What are your views on the decision the five-time Mr. Olympia took that changed his life completely? Will you do the same if you get the opportunity to do so? Let us know in the comments.
