Many had doubted if Haney would ever win a national competition, let alone be 8 times winner. While he has planning to go to Detroit for Teenage America, a customer in his shop asked Haney not to keep his hopes so high. The customer believed Haney won’t make it because he was from a small town, unlike the other boys from L. A and New York.

In this context, Mr. Olympia wrote, “What he said had no effect on me due to the upbringing of my Father and Mother.” Moreover, as a testament to this hard work, the bodybuilding icon displayed his trophy in his grocery shop.

He added in the post, “After winning, I placed the “48” trophy in the grocery store window as proof that it doesn’t matter where you’re from, Faith and determination make all the difference. Never allow the mindset of someone else to put limits on how far you can go👍🏽🫵🏽.”
