The discussion got interesting in the latest edition of the Menace podcast featuring Phil Heath. With the much-hyped Pittsburg Pro 2024 right around the corner, the trio of hosts and their guests discussed the upcoming NPC show and Mr. Olympia. During the conversation, Phil Heath asked 56-year-old bodybuilding veteran and host Chris Cormier about his predictions.
After host, Denis James picked Hadi Choopan to win the 2024 Mr. Olympia, Heath asked Chris Cormier for his Olympia pick and who he was excited to see at the Pittsburgh Pro. While the 90s bodybuilding icon chose Derek Lunsford to retain his title, he also spoke about Big Ramy. Ramy will guest pose at the Pittsburgh Pro, and Cormier discussed the former champion’s future.
Cormier expressed his excitement to see Derek Lunsford and Nick Walker beside Samson Dauda at Pittsburgh. “Then I want to see Ramy,” said the 56-year-old. “I want to see Ramy. I want to see what Ramy brings because I think Ramy got something to prove,” said the bodybuilding veteran. The others agreed with Chris Cormier.

The two-time champion has barely competed since losing his Mr. Olympia title to Hadi Choopan in 2022. The last time he competed was at the 2023 Arnold Classic. Big Ramy placed higher at the Arnold Classic than at the 2022 Olympia. The first Mr. Olympia from Egypt also made visible improvements, but it wasn’t enough to crack the top three at the Classic.
Since then, the bodybuilding champion has stayed under the radar. He hasn’t posted any recent physique updates either. However, Ramy has a huge fanbase, and they are eager to see him back on the bodybuilding stage. So Chris Cormier feels that Ramy’s future in competitive bodybuilding depends on what he showcases against the best bodybuilders in the world at the Pittsburg Pro. However, you may be wondering what Big Ramy has been up to for over a year.

The bodybuilding icon’s extended break
Big Ramy appeared on the 2022 Mr. Olympia stage with a greatly diminished physique. Bodybuilding fans even became concerned about the former champion’s health. However, Ramy addressed the comments and admitted to suffering from setbacks before the Olympia. Thankfully, the bodybuilder immediately sought help and found it through stem cell therapy.

The improvements that Ramy showcased on the Arnold Classic 2023 stage were the result of stem cell therapy. Since then, the bodybuilding icon has taken time off, undergone extensive stem cell therapy, and has been training to regain his Sandow-winning physique.
Bodybuilding fans and experts like Chris Cormier await Ramy unveiling his physique at the Pittsburgh Pro. While Ramy may have abruptly disappeared from the competitive bodybuilding landscape, he may not done with the sport just yet.
