90s bodybuilding icon Milos Sarcev posted a rare photograph with eight-time Mr. Olympia Ronnie Coleman on Instagram. The duo competed against one another in the 90s even before Coleman became The King. While the Serbian bodybuilding icon never became Mr. Olympia, he was glad to have competed with one of the greatest bodybuilding champions of all time.

Milos Sarcev showed his admiration for The King in his post. The 60-year-old bodybuilder posted images where he and Ronnie Coleman dressed as Roman legionaries. The duo wore the iconic helmets, leather shoulder guards, and tunics. However, they didn’t wear the chest piece to show their chiseled chest and midsection. Sarcev posted three pictures with Ronnie Coleman.

“These pics always put me in a great mood. Standing next to the GOAT @ronniecoleman8 – in Rome, 1999,” wrote the renowned bodybuilding coach. Coleman had earned his Mr. Olympia crown by 1999. However, Milos Sarcev didn’t disclose whether they did the photoshoot before Coleman won his second title in 1999 or after the Olympia.

However, this isn’t the first time Milos Sarcev has posted pictures from this specific photoshoot. The 60-year-old has posted several images from the session in the past. In previous posts, he also revealed that Kevin Levrone had joined them. Levrone is also a 90s icon who won the silver medal at the Mr. Olympia an astonishing four times in his career.

Milos Sarcev, Ronnie Coleman, Kevin Levrone, and other bodybuilding veterans of the 90s competed against one another on stage. Yet they continue to have great respect for one another off-stage. This is the first time Sarcev has shared a throwback picture with Ronnie Coleman.

Ronnie Coleman vs. Milos Sarcev

While Sarcev’s latest post about the 59-year-old bodybuilding champion was something that happened offstage, in 2020 he shared an even rarer image. It was a still from the 1994 Mr. Olympia contest. In the image, Sarcev and Coleman were hitting the mandatory abs and thighs pose. However, Ronnie Coleman was a rookie on the professional stage in 1994.

The King’s physique was also far leaner and much less conditioned in 1994. Many would argue that in 1994, Sarcev had better muscularity and conditioning than Ronnie Coleman. The judges certainly saw it that way, as Milos Sarcev finished in 13th place while Coleman ended up in 15th. Although Coleman would start an eight-year reign in 1998, Dorian Yates dominated the Olympia stage in 1994.

While Milos Sarcev stays busy coaching competitive bodybuilders, he is active on social media and often posts rare throwbacks from his bodybuilding days. What did you think of Sarcev and Coleman as Roman legionaries? Write your thoughts in the comments.
