Seven-time Mr. Olympia winner Phil Heath shared three invaluable things he believes everyone should incorporate into their thought process. During his interview with High Performance, the hosts asked The Gift about three “non-negotiable behaviors,” that people should learn from the bodybuilding champion. The 44-year-old took no time to answer.

Heath hit the nail on the head with his very first recommendation. “Stop talking negative to yourself,” said the bodybuilding veteran. Phil Heath is aware that people often underestimate themselves in nearly all situations in life. During the earlier part of his career, The Gift underestimated himself and doubted if he could even win his first bodybuilding show.

However, Phil Heath conquered his unassertiveness, and it helped him dominate the bodybuilding stage. Heath’s second recommendation is something that’s harming millions, maybe even billions, across the globe. “Stop comparing yourself to other people on social media,” said the former Mr. Oympia. These are all lessons the bodybuilder learned the hard way.

How Phil Heath learned from his experiences

The bodybuilding champion has opened up about his past in several interviews. Heath recently sat with his mentor, Hany Rambod, and explained how Rambod jolted him to his senses during his bodybuilding debut. Although Heath doubted himself, Rambod saw his potential and helped The Gift gain confidence on stage. However, Heath had no one during some battles.

While preparing for his bodybuilding debut, Heath asked his college basketball teammates to give him some space. However, they woke him on the night before his competition because they wanted to party. Similarly, few people cared to check on Phil Heath during his prep before he won the Mr. Olympia but flocked to him when he became champion. So, The Gift derives his three non-negotiables through the experiences he had to endure and overcome to become successful in life.
