Sophia Ellis, the record-setting British female powerlifter, bagged the European deadlift record by lifting a whopping 240.5 kg at the European Championship, held in Poland in 2022. She is now regarded as one of the best female power lifters in the realm of bodybuilding. 

However, her journey has been a heartbreaking one. Battling anorexia and bulimia for several years, she finally started following her passion, right after recovery, and well, that was the best decision she took. The British powerlifter has now taken the Internet by storm, after her recent lift.

Sophia Ellis breaks into a record 

An eminent bodybuilding fan page took to their official Instagram account @bodybuildingcom and shared a video of Sophia Ellis performing her record-breaking deadlift of 245 kg at the IPF World Classic Open Powerlifting Championship. In the video, Ellis manages to lift her weight and gives a very sweet smile at the end.

They captioned it, “245kg European & British record deadlift 🥹🇬🇧 The deadlift that got me gold at the IPF World Powerlifting Championships. ✨”. Well, apart from all the other lifts, what made hers stand out was the absolute love and dedication that was demonstrated on the stage while the act was being performed.
