In the biggest competition of bodybuilding called Mr. Olympia, a new winner has been declared for 2023. The new champion is none other than Derek Lunsford from the United States. He beat the previous champion, Hadi Choopan, to win the prestigious title, declaring Lunsford as the newest Mr. Olympia.

Derek Lunsford is the first person ever to win in two different categories at the Olympia competition. He won both the 212 and Sandow trophies. He fought really hard against Choopan and Samson Dauda to be one of the top three, and he won. Recently another bodybuilder, who is also the Son of 3XMR. Olympia shared his feelings about how proud he is of Derek Lunsford’s victory on his social media.

Sergio Oliva, also known as “The Myth” in the fitness community, has named his son after him, and Oliva Jr. has truly kept up with the legacy of his dad. Sergio Oliva Jr recently shared a post on his Instagram on how proud he was of the recent Mr. Olympia 2023 winner. The caption in the post also took a slight dig at all the ones who wrote Lunsdord off. Oliva Jr captioned the post “This was after Shawn’s loss and when people were laughing at @dereklunsford_ saying he will never win 212. The rest is history…”

Derek Lunsford was a champion in the category “212.” But then, the organizer of the Mr. Olympia competition invited him to join a bigger category. In his first try last year, he came in second place, just behind Hadi Choopan. But this year, he came back ready and won. He showed everyone how good he is.

Derek Lunsford made history by winning two trophies at Mr. Olympia: one in the 212 category and another Sandow trophy. What really impressed the judges was how huge and strong his back muscles have become. Lunsford is now the 18th person to win the Olympia championship, and he looked very happy and shared his feelings when he held the Sandow trophy right after winning.

After winning the championship, Lunsford said, “I’m just, listen I’m just a guy from Indiana, some kid from Indiana that didn’t know what he was gonna do with his life. He found the gym and fell in love with it. And here we are making history… two division Olympia Champion. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you so much.”

The big bodybuilding competition of 2023, Mr. Olympia, has finished its main events. Chris Bumstead won the Classic Physique title for the fifth time, and Jennifer Dorie became the Bikini Olympia champion again. Then, it was the turn of the open division finals, where they chose the best overall bodybuilder.
