The bodybuilding legend known as the ‘Sultan of Symmetry’ has lived a difficult life. He had faced serious health problems over the years. He battled a rare kidney disease and even lost one of his legs. Wheeler has already gone through over 40 surgeries, including his leg amputation. Now, at the age of 57, he is dealing with another challenge.

Due to injuries, he’s been suffering from extreme pain, and could hardly move his shoulder. Although he needs another surgery for his current situation, right now, he is focusing on physiotherapy. He shared some news through social media to keep his followers updated about his health.

Flex Wheeler undergoes Electrotherapy for his shoulder

Wheeler has been taking his therapy from doctor Carlos Gamero in Los Angeles for a long time now. Gamero shared a video on his Instagram page, featuring the legend. At first glance, it looked strange, but then the doctor explained the therapy that Wheeler was under.

The doctor said, “We’re going to do a little bit of electrotherapy treatment with the Mark Two glove.” He even captioned the post and wrote “Electrifying sessions with the legendary Flex Wheeler! Honored to have this icon, trust me with his health. Here’s to swift recoveries and stronger comebacks.” He expressed his feelings toward Wheeler and said he was honored to be able to help the icon.

“I’ve had tons of surgeries on my shoulders. Just recently, a couple of months ago, I don’t even think I’ve actually talked about this on camera yet.

Wheeler broke his neck bones in an accident

He continued and said that In 1994 he met with a car accident that broke two of his neck bones, C5 and C4 (They are prone to motion-related injury and disorders like disc herniation). Since then, he has been dealing with three major issues in his neck. Because of this, he’s feeling pressure on his shoulder causing him severe pain. He demonstrated in the video that he’s not able to move a lot. He further said, if he wants more movement, then he has to go through another surgery.

In addition, the bodybuilding legend said that he’s trying to be proactive and try other methods to avoid surgery for as long as possible because he has a lot of work that needs to be done.
