Working out at the gyms has become a very wholesome experience these days. With bodybuilding champions of the world promoting harmony and brotherhood in the gym and asking newcomers to support each other, there has been a massive shift in the bodybuilding community. Case in point, when this powerlifter tried to attempt a PR of 661 lbs, he found himself amidst loud cheers and vocal supporters. Even as he failed his attempt, there were people who surrounded him and made him feel celebrated.

Gym Bro’s support helps an athlete meet PR

Working out by yourself can be a lonely endeavor. Your wins are your wins and more often than not you have to eat your losses by yourself. But this was not one of those days. In a recent video that has been going viral, a powerlifter was seen trying to perform a deadlift PR of 661 lbs. He failed the first time but he wasn’t alone in that moment, in his weakest hour. Where many give up, he had the support of gym bros, trying to lift his spirits up.

So he tried again. This time with the voice of his supporters, people he might not have even known existed before this moment, all cheering him on, waiting to celebrate his victory. And this time, with the collective might of the cheers and the positivity of the universe being dialed his way, he was successful.

The most wholesome part of the video was another woman who had come to add weights to her rod. She stopped as she saw the personal record setting going on, and as the man pulled off the deadlift, she gave a proud smile. These are the little things in the gym that keep the atmosphere healthy.

A lot of the people themselves were pretty excited to see the final swift lift and the PR setting. One of them, joining in for the motivation commented, “Hell Yeah”. A lot of people, taking to the fact that videos like these must go viral, tagged Joey Swoll, the CEO of Fitness Positivity in the post. Another even wrote, “Someone show this video to Joey Swoll”.

It’s good to see gyms becoming wholesome. Competition in bodybuilding will always be fierce but true brotherhood is in celebrating each other’s success, isn’t it?
