During a recent episode of Cutler Cast, Jay Cutler, the 4x Mr. Olympia, and Milos Sarcev, who won the Mr. Universe and has coached various prominent bodybuilders, sat together for a discussion. As the fans might have noticed, Cutler, Matt Daniels, and Milos are three of the familiar faces on the show and fellow bodybuilders, and fans have heard their opinions frequently on different keynotes. Nevertheless, the topic Cutler chose recently was not only enticing but also more than relevant to the realm of bodybuilding.

The Quad-Stomp Pro and Milos Sarcev discussed the announcement of the winner of Mr. Olympia and what happens when it is made. Cutler compares it with the UFC tournament’s press conferences while talking about how it becomes a bit monotonous post-Mr. Olympia.

Recently, Milos Sarcev posted a video on Instagram, just a snippet of the actual podcast, the Cutler Cast. The video was captioned as, “Should the press conference at the @mrolympiallc be more like the @ufc?” And yes, this question summons up a series of questions in the minds of the bodybuilding fraternity. As Jay Cutler quotes, “You know what I was thinking about? I was watching a YouTube playback of when each fighter comes in and they interview them about their thoughts. And how come we don’t do that in bodybuilding?”

Further, he proceeds by questioning Milos, “Don’t you think it would be nice that night of to like, get a person’s feedback? Like the top five or something? UFC is a strength sport as well, and after declaring the winner and the top five positions, they allow the fighters to come in and give an interview. They can speak about their thoughts, their stories, or anything else to the press directly.

Moreover, Jay says, “Like, I think the press conference that they do at the Olympia a couple of days out.” Thus, he adds by saying, “I don’t know, man, I just think the press should be able to ask, like that’s what it’s called the press conference. It should be open to the media, and then I think there should be, like, a follow-up. I know they do the next-day seminar, but I feel like your emotions and all that stuff, like, it must be right after.”

This reminds the fans of the days when Ronnie Coleman spoke to the press when he won his 6th Mr. Olympia, and while talking about how hard he worked in the gym, he also posed, and the fans were frenzied at that moment. Moreover, while Ronnie was doing the ‘Front Double Bicep Pose,’ Cutler came in between them as there was a feud between them, and both of them performed the ‘Most Muscular Pose.’ And when they did the ‘Black Lat Spread Pose,’ the crowd was full of energy. Maybe Cutler was talking about that level of intensity while doing the press conference. Every athlete has a story to tell; why not give them a chance to speak?

Milos Sarcev opens up about the significance of a press conference

Milos Sarcev concluded the podcast by saying, “In every sport, you have reporters and spicing it up and marketing. You know that’s what brings the interest.” He was correct; in UFC, the winners get a chance to tell their side of the story—the tale that led them there.

Likewise, bodybuilders have a story about their struggle, and that tale needs to be heard at that very moment when they win the title because they are vigorous. What do you think about Jay’s view of the press conference? Do comment below.
