Their family soon grew as they welcomed their first daughter, Katherine, in 1989, followed by another daughter, Christina, in 1991. In September 1993, their son Patrick, who became an actor, was born. However, their journey together faced a significant test when news broke in 2011 of Arnold’s affair with their housekeeper.

Despite their public image as a power couple, cracks began to surface in their marriage some years ago. In 2011, shocking news emerged that Arnie had fathered a child with their longtime housekeeper, Mildred Baena, over a decade earlier. During their marriage counseling, Schwarzenegger confessed that Joseph Baena is his son.

You know that you can really make mistakes like that, and it can affect not only your life but it can affect everyone around you, and definitely in this particular case, the personal failure definitely affect my entire family.” The bodybuilding legend accepted that these severe mistakes echoed throughout his life.

Despite the difficulties, they emphasized their commitment to maintaining a good relationship, stating, “She and I are really good friends and very close.”  In an old interview, the seven-time Mr. Olympia acknowledged the challenges of divorce but highlighted their efforts to prioritize their children. They even spent holidays and birthdays together, aiming to minimize the impact on their kids. In reflecting on their handling of the situation, they remarked, “If there’s Oscars for how to handle divorce, Maria and I should get it.”
