One of the most significant debates that has raged on in the bodybuilding and fitness communities is the one surrounding celebrity transformation. Hollywood celebrities often pull off insane body transformations within a matter of months. Celebrities like Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and Hugh Jackman have gotten ripped well beyond their forties. Similarly, actors like Kumail Nanjiani put on pounds of muscle while losing fat within a year. Hence, the fitness industry has often accused celebrities of lying about taking steroids.
During interviews, every celebrity has stuck to using keywords like hard work, diet, and discipline to credit their transformation. While most in the fitness community are convinced they are hiding a part of the truth, a fitness YouTuber has raised an interesting argument. The YouTuber argued that celebrities hiding their steroid use might be a good thing. But the fitness world gave their unfiltered response.

Fitness YouTuber Paris Demers released a short where he provided his take on the never-ending argument. “Big celebrities lie about their steroid use for one simple reason: to protect their brand and careers,” said Demers. He explained that a massive production company might not hire someone who admitted to steroid use.
“Now I do think everyone, especially public figures with an audience, should be open and honest,” said the YouTuber. However, he also argued that since Hollywood’s leading men have millions of fans, the strategy might backfire. The YouTuber gave Dwayne Johnson’s example as one of the biggest action stars in the world.

Demers said if The Rock became incredibly transparent about how he built his physique, some fans might follow him. “I worry that this would influence all of his young, impressionable fans to start taking steroids,” argued the content creator. However, Demers left the conversation open and asked the viewers’ opinions. Fitness enthusiasts left their opinions in the comments section of the video.
The fitness world agreed on one point
While people understood Demer’s point, lying or hiding the truth didn’t go sit well with most. “I rather be honest and if I was the rock I would just say, ‘I’m only putting this stuff in my body because it’s for my job,'” wrote one fan. Another fan said Demers made a good point but didn’t agree. “You make a good point but in my opinion, lying is more harmful than potentially crushing people’s motivations,” he wrote.

“The idea, just the idea of thinking that this kind of bodies are natural, is pure stupidity,” one fan stated plainly. Another fan saw the YouTuber’s point but said it didn’t help. “I do think that if male celebs admit to steroid use their fans will also use them. Putting their health at risk. But I think that people still do it anyways. So really doesn’t matter if they admit it or not,” the fan commented.
