Arnold Schwarzenegger opened up about the decision

In a recent interview, Arnold Schwarzenegger shed light on his decision to step away from the franchise. He revealed that the powerful duo, whose characters brought an extra level of excitement and nostalgia to the movies, will not be reunited on the big screen once again. “It’s done and I’m not in it,” he said. 

Schwarzenegger also revealed that working on the first part of The Expendables was a gift from his side to Sylvester Stallone. During the shoot, Schwarzenegger was serving as the governor of California and had a tight schedule. Despite his busy commitments, he managed to make time for the film to support his friend and co-star. “I did it as a favor to Sly,” Schwarzenegger told The Parade.
