“Are you excessively sore from your workouts? Do you have injuries? Is the soreness making you contemplate skipping the gym altogether?
Fear not, former Mr. Olympia, Frank Zane, has shared a few golden tips to bid farewell to post-exercise agony.

Zane took to his Instagram to share three tried-and-tested methods you can apply to get over the soreness. His first tip revolves around a strategic shift in your workout routine. He stated, “Train with lighter weights.”

Instead of heavyweights, Zane wants fitness enthusiasts to try a lighter approach and engage in deliberate, slow movements with higher repetitions. He believes this will allow your muscles to fully experience the rhythm. Zane further suggests using rubber cables between sets to add a touch of resistance, creating a seamless flow in your workout. The secret here is not to punish your muscles but to serenade them into strength.

In addition, Zane asks to “Watch for delayed onset soreness,” the uninvited guest of intense workouts. He advises detecting this early to make adjustments accordingly. Moreover, doing this will help focus the flow of your workout routine. On top of this, Zane recommends being flexible instead of sticking to a rigid schedule. “Adjust the frequency and duration of each workout” based on your body’s signals, he says.

When one listens to Zane’s advice, what comes to light is the fact that despite rivals during their prime, both Zane and Arnold Schwarzenegger shared similar ways to avoid muscle soreness. Despite their competitive past, they both agree on methods to ease post-workout aches, revealing a common ground in their fitness approaches.
