Arnold Schwarzenegger returned to Reddit earlier this year to promote his fitness newsletter, The Pump Daily, now known as Arnold’s Pump Club. Yesterday, the bodybuilding legend appeared in a YouTube video on Reddit’s official channel, titled Arnold Schwarzenegger AMA. In the video, Arnie took a look at what people were saying about him on the social media platform. The 75-year-old came across various images of himself where people explained the context behind those images in the caption. One such picture was from 2020, during the COVID-19 lockdown, in which Schwarzenegger held part of a $1 million investment.

In 2020, the bodybuilding legend sat for an online interview. While the interview was otherwise uneventful, one statement went viral. In the statement, Schwarzenegger said the words, “Scr*w your freedom,” and people were not pleased. While the quote had context behind it, the backlash was immense. However, the image on Reddit showed an initiative that many didn’t know Schwarzenegger also undertook during the lockdown.

Arnold Schwarzenegger was appalled at the lack of preparation

During the video, Arnold Schwarzenegger came across an image uploaded to the r/Coronavirus community. User u/Ty20_ uploaded an image of the actor holding a box full of protective medical gear. Schwarzenegger wore a mask and stood inside a warehouse surrounded by other boxes full of medical equipment.

“Arnold Schwarzenegger donates $1,000,000 in masks and protective gear to hospital worker,” Redditor u/TY20_ wrote in the caption. Schwarzenegger said during the early days of the coronavirus breakout, there was a massive shortage of masks and other protective gear for medical professionals on the frontline. “Oh my God, we have no masks,” said Schwarzenegger.

The Hollywood superstar said he and a few other celebrities bought millions of masks for medical professionals. However, he was appalled at the lack of preparation for an emergency like the COVID-19 pandemic. “It sounded to me so ridiculous not to be prepared,” the 75-year-old said. Arnie also apologized for the controversial “freedom” comment recently.
