Chris Pratt, a highly desired leading actor in Hollywood, possesses a modest and classy fashion sense. Pratt prefers wearing the trusty old two-piece suit most of the time. However, like many A-listers, the Avengers star loves his watches. In an interview, he expressed his admiration for Panerai watches and unveiled a unique Rolex. The latter is often associated with actor Paul Newman. In fact, his version of the same timepiece was once sold at a record-breaking $17,752,500!

The specific 1963 Rolex timepiece was sold for less than a thousand dollars in the 70s. In 1991, the official timekeeper at Daytona, Florida Speedway sponsored the 24 Hours. The race soon came to be acknowledged as Rolex 24. In return, Rolex paid them a tribute by giving it the iconic name, Rolex Daytona. Gifting such an iconic watch was a plan that Pratt speculated to have the bodybuilding icon Arnold Schwarzenegger’s name all over it. Here’s why.

GQ magazine asked the 43-year-old about the watch he wore during his wedding. The Terminal list star revealed he wore a “Rolex that was gifted to me by my wife, Katherine.” Four years after marriage, Pratt recalled his wife gifted him a coveted 40 mm Oyster steel white and ceramic Rolex Daytona. The watch starts at $15,000 but the prices cross the $100,000 mark. “She added that to my collection,” said the actor.

During the interview, GQ asked Chris Pratt about the reason behind his wife Katherine’s choice of the watch he wore during their wedding. In response, Pratt admitted, “The douchiest thing I’ve ever said in my life.” He confessed that he didn’t know the exact reason, as Katherine hadn’t mentioned it explicitly. However, he speculated that since he mostly owned Panerai watches, Katherine might have wanted to gift him something different, yet iconic.

He then said she might not have made the choice herself. “My guess is she talked to her dad. I know her father’s a big watch collector and her brothers are as well,” he told GQ Magazine. Hence, he confessed that, father-in-law Arnold Schwarzenegger might have guided his daughter to make the right choice.

However, Chris Pratt values his wife’s gift. “It’s very special. It’s engraved,” he added. Although the actor from the Marvel Cinematic Universe believes it would be unpleasant to attribute his wife’s wedding gift to his father-in-law, it wouldn’t be unexpected, considering that Arnie is knowledgeable about watches.

From Hollywood Icons to Jurassic timepieces: Chris Pratt’s unique watch collection

Chris Pratt likes Panerai watches. However, the brand was not widely recognized in the 1990s. Sylvester Stallone played a significant role in popularizing the brand. During his visit to Italy for the filming of the movie Daylight in 1996, Stallone discovered a Panerai Luminor and helped increase its popularity. According to GQ, Stallone liked it so much that he gifted one to the bodybuilding icon.

One of the newest watches in Pratt’s collection is a new Panerai Luminor BiTempo New York Edition. He bought it while attending the opening of the watchmaker’s New York store. “It has the Brooklyn Bridge engraved on the back and it’s one of 212 made. It’s pretty incredible,” Chris stated.
