Mr. Olympia 2023 saw a defining victory for Derek Lunsford, who defeated Hadi Choopan for the ultimate title. This iconic win not only caused excitement in the bodybuilding world but also ignited controversy on who should have truly won the title.  Nonetheless, after a lot of speculation and arguments, it was clearly visible that Derek Lunsford deserved the title given his near-perfect physique, which he revisits in a recent video.

A social media post from the champ had fans agreeing that his 2023 Mr Olympia win was valid. Why? Particularly because of his monstrous back.

Lunsford uploaded a video on Instagram where he is posing for the camera, showing off his amazingly striated back muscles. From the Christmas tree to the quads, everything looks flawless on the latest Mr. Olympia champ. He captioned the post saying, “Minutes before stepping on stage @mrolympiallc prejudging this year.” 

Even when he shed light on how his bodybuilding journey was not easy and there were times when he questioned himself, Lunsford ultimately achieved the biggest prize in this industry and fulfilled his dream. It earned him a comparison to Phil Heath, who turned his back muscles from his weakness to his strength and became a champion. 

Bodybuilding fans not only appreciated Lunsford’s physicality but compared him to Heath, since his back is as monstrous as the veteran champion.
