Following an 8th-round-KO victory over Oscar Duarte, Ryan Garcia penned down a heartfelt message for Derrick James and his family. However, Garcia was careful enough to not mention Oscar De La Hoya and Bernard Hopkins.

Recently, Hopkins infuriated Garcia by declaring he would decide Ryan’s future in the sport following the latter’s performance against Duarte in the ring. Despite the much-needed victory, it seems Garcia is still upset over Hopkins’ statements.

After the fight, Ryan Garcia further bans Oscar De La Hoya and Bernard Hopkins from entering his thank-you list

With the ongoing dispute between Ryan Garcia and his promoters, ahead of the match with Oscar Duarte on Saturday night, ‘KingRy’ banned Oscar De La Hoya and Bernard Hopkins from entering his locker room. However, following Garcia’s victory, De La Hoya assured the public that he was proud of Ryan’s success and hopeful about a prosperous future with the 25-year-old. Despite De La Hoya’s words, it seems Garcia has yet to forgive ‘Golden Boy’ and Hopkins.

Likewise, while Garcia thanked his coach and family, ‘KingRy’ excluded Oscar De La Hoya and Bernard Hopkins from his thank-you list.  “A huge shoutout to @derrickdjames1 my coach for an amazing camp. Can’t wait to get in the gym with you already and start building even more,” wrote Garcia. In addition, he said, “Also my brother for being the best brother possible love you so much, bro! Lastly, my family you guys are my root and I love you. Let’s destroy next week let’s go!!!! @procoachhenry [Henry Garcia].”

Although Garcia mentioned that he missed a few people since he abstained from “writing a novel,” it may not be safe to assume that he meant De La Hoya and Hopkins. Anyway, although Garcia deprived Hopkins and ‘Golden Boy’ of thanks, he was sure about his future in the sport.

Garcia eyes Shakur Stevenson and Rolly Romero

Even though Garcia’s promoters were clueless about his next potential opponent, the 25-year-old called out Shakur and Rolly. During his interview inside the ring, ‘KingRy’ expressed interest in fighting for Romero’s WBA Super Lightweight title. But, at the post-fight conference, Garcia fired his shots at ‘Shakira Tweeterson’ aka Shakur. In his opinion, Shakur, who holds the record of the least punches ever thrown in a fight, is an opponent ‘KingRy’ would like to beat.
