Tommy Eastwood could have tipped to the top
Melanie Lloyd reported back in 2016 that Epsom’s Tommy Eastwood secured a points victory over Zimbabwean Hastings Rasani, leaving a strong impression on former European champion Chris Finnegan. Observing Eastwood’s performance, Finnegan expressed confidence in the Epsom fighter’s potential, backing him to ascend to the pinnacle of the boxing world.
After watching his phenomenal performance against Hastings Rasani, Finnegan said, “I’ve got nothing but admiration for him and I think he’s going to go a long way.” Unfortunately, Eastwood’s next fight after Rasani turned out to be his last one. It was against Rob Norton for the English title, which was planned to be the eliminator of the British title. Before the fight, even Eastwood was hellbent on grabbing the belt.
He said, “As far as I’m concerned, every fight I have might as well be for a world title.” However, the fans never saw him inside the ring again after he got knocked out by Norton in the eighth round of the bout. This was extremely disheartening as a lot of people had many hopes with him. Even at the news of his passing away, the fans expressed their agony.

In the X post, Lloyd announced the demise of the former Southern Area cruiserweight champion and revealed how heartbroken she is, by the fact that Eastwood “left this planet yesterday“. The fans and his loved ones mourned with her.
