In response to Nikki Tall’s call for a fight, activist Vincent Martin Otse has accepted his offer. However, Otse, better known as VeryDarkMan, outlined a condition that remains crucial to get the clash rolling.
In a statement, self-described, Greek-German, Canada-based heavyweight fighter, Nikki Tall explained that he is ready to face off against VeryDarkMan, a prominent influencer who rose to fame very recently. The declaration came in the light of a celebrity boxing bout between Nigerian actor Charles Okocha and musician Portable that has nudged celebrities from Nigeria specifically to hop on to the trend of celebrity boxing fights. Keen to take on Tall, VeryDarkMan too has come with his requirements, and they’re quite a stretch.

VeryDarkMan vs. Nikki Tall in the making
‘Voice of the people’ VeryDarkMan, took to his Facebook and posted a video detailing the fact that he remains unafraid to fight Tall. In a video with Tall’s call for a fight playing in the background, the 27-year-old, Lagos-born influencer said, “I am ready if they accept my terms and conditions.” Elucidating that he would need a Canadian visa in return and an increase in the purse money, VDM would accept the fight.
Tall invited VeryDarkMan or any other Nigeran celebrity for a boxing matchup and put 15 million Nigeran Nairas, N15 ($16,698 USD) on the stake. While the winner would get N10 million, the loser would get N5 million. Now, VDM is seeking $100,000, which is about N89 million for the fight.
VDM shot to fame during the entire Jenny’s Glow fiasco. A lady called out the popular Nigerian skincare brand for selling subpar products. VDM immediately joined the backlash against the brand and further called out other brands that sold products without necessary approvals. Later, a video of him teaching self-defense techniques to Hausa artisans, an ethnic group in Nigeria, went viral.
Meanwhile, as Nikki Tall, the artist famous for his afrobeat and multi-instrumentalist knack called on VDM for a fight, he also pushed Portable and Okocha for a rematch.
Portable Refuses a Rematch Against Charles Okocha
Portable defeated his Nollywood fame opponent at a Heritage Boxing Entertainment celebrity bout on Tuesday night at Landmark Beach in Lagos. Post the four rounds, a Nigerian street-pop artist, originally named Habeeb Badmus, was declared the winner by the referee. Calling out the referee for supposed irregularities, Okocha sought a rematch in an Instagram post. In response, Portable denied a rematch and further directed his opponent to fight the two-time world heavyweight champion, Anthony Joshua, instead.

He wrote on social media, “You want another beating? You that weigh more than I do, I beat you and collected money and belt. First round I beat you, second round I beat you, third round and fourth round, I beat you. Go and fight another person. If you want to fight, go and call Anothy Joshua. I am not dropping this belt.”
It seems like the Nigerian Celebrity Boxing League is on the precipice of making it big. Portable vs. Okocha laid the foundation for that. Will VeryDarkMan vs. Nikki Tall be the next big clash in this growing culture?
