After BBBofC’s Refusal for Chris Eubank Jr. vs. Conor Benn, Eddie Hearn Turns to Organization Body That Majorly Sanctions Misfits Influencer Fights

The highly anticipated clash between Conor Benn and Chris Eubank Jr. was supposed to take place on October 8th of last year. However, it was derailed when Benn tested positive for a banned substance in two anti-doping tests. This led to a postponement by the British Boxing Board of Control (BBBofC). In July, the National Anti-Doping Panel lifted Benn’s suspension. Thanks to this he secured a victory over Rodolfo Orozco in September. But the trouble did not end there.

Subsequently, discussions resumed between Eubank Jr. and Benn. They aimed to set a date for their match on February 3rd at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. However, the BBBofC recently announced their refusal to clear ‘The Destroyer,’ consequently denying sanctioning for the proposed catchweight bout. Eddie Hearn, Benn’s promoter, has now approached the PBA.

Speaking to Seconds Out, Hearn has revealed that he is in talks with the PBA for the fight he so badly wants to happen. With a license from the PBA, the boxers can be sure that their event meets all the safety and regulatory requirements. This will help eliminate any negative perceptions associated with White-Collar/Semi-Pro boxing. All of KSI’s matches have been sanctioned by the body and now, Hearn is looking for a solution here.

Hearn suggests that Benn may pursue legal action against the body over allegations of insufficient evidence following failed drug tests. Contrary to Robert Smith’s remarks from the BBBofC, Hearn firmly believes Conor Benn is legally eligible to compete. “I’ve met the PBA, I think they’re a very, very professional organization and have a big future in boxing,” said Hearn.

On Twitter, Benn eagerly expressed his anticipation for the upcoming clash, boldly stating, “I can’t wait to punch you in the head @ChrisEubankJr.” Eubank responded with a foreboding warning, declaring, “DEAD MAN WALKING.” Benn, in a vehement comeback, aggressively vowed, “I’ll remind you of this when you are being scraped up off the f***ing canvas. Feb 3 I’m ending your career #4rounds.”
