Devin Haney is already ready for the next challenge. The American is more than willing to take on another hard-hitting opponent but for high stakes, especially if he can add more gold straps to his waist. A newly crowned champion has thrown a gauntlet, and the WBC champion has accepted it. But he predicts a grim fate for his fellow division champion.

After dismantling Rolando Romero and clinching the WBA super lightweight title, Isaac Cruz has put himself on the 140-pound division’s radar. Moreover, he is open to fighting Gervonta Davis for a rematch, but has also called out ‘The Dream’. It seems the challenge didn’t sit well with Haney, who resolved to show ‘Pitbull’ his “mediocre” level. What else did he say?

Haney shared his candid opinion of Cruz’s call-out in a conversation with Fight Hype. The 25-year-old champion was not only delighted with the call-out but also admitted that it was one fight he would explore after defeating Ryan Garcia. He said, “I like when guys call me out because it makes for good fights to happen if he’s really serious. That’s a fight I’ll explore once I’m victorious vs Ryan Garcia on April 20th.”

Haney then declared that he would make Cruz look nothing special, as he had done in the past with other fighters. He added, “It wouldn’t be no different. I would make him look mediocre like I do to these guys. It’s not easy. I just make it look that way.”

However, Haney had heaped praise on Cruz when the latter defeated Romero. The California native had said, “He looked good. Can’t say anything bad. He fought a great fight. He did everything that he said he was going to do.”

A potential fight between the two for the unified Super lightweight titles hinges on whether the 31-0 record holder comes on top against ‘KingRy’ on April 20. Haney is confident of his skills, boxing acumen, and ability to produce a result that will ensure no rematch in the future. He vowed to beat his childhood rival “bad.”

‘The Dream’ promises the annihilation of Ryan Garcia

Haney specified that he was going to “beat the s*** out of him.” He continued, “I’m going to beat him so bad we won’t need a rematch. The world won’t want to see a rematch.”

The super lightweight boxer is currently on an incredible run and has defeated the likes of Vasiliy Lomachenko and George Kambosos Jr. It remains to be seen how well he handles Garcia and negates his left hook and whether he fights with Issac Cruz in the future.
