Amanda Serrano, proudly known as “The Real Deal,” stands as the sole female and Puerto Rican athlete to claim world titles in more than four weight classes. Her remarkable achievements extend to holding the Guinness World Record for the highest number of boxing world championships secured in distinct weight divisions by a female. Recognized by the WBO, she clinched the prestigious Female Boxer of the Year Award twice, in 2016 and 2018, with the added honor of being the inaugural recipient of the WBO’s Super World Championship for women.

Amanda Serrano calls out sexist haters

Serrano has been doing her best to elevate women’s boxing to the same status at which men’s boxing is held. Her recent victory against Danila Ramos in an unconventional 12 3-minute round fight etched her name in history. This move helped put women’s boxing on the same ground as men’s boxing.

Having proven herself numerous times, she addressed the hate women’s boxing receives. She took to Twitter, and wrote, “Whomever says Women’s Boxing isn’t a Big thing has issues
We take all the Risks & we Entertain. A high % of the big fights live up to the hype. I’m a fan of every woman that does what I do, for that reason I will/would never talk down to any of them.
#WomensBoxingRules.” With the post, she revealed how she appreciates every female boxer for what they have. She also promised to never disrespect them.

As Serrano reflected on the moment, she found striking parallels with boxing legends Felix Trinidad and Miguel Cotto, both of whom had experienced similar adoration from their homeland. Now, she stands as the torchbearer, with the passionate support that had once surrounded those icons now fervently rallying behind her.

Serrano is now leading the movement for reducing the parity between men’s and women’s boxing and has received support from many reputed entities across the world of boxing and even from those outside it.

The Greatest aka Muhammad Ali would always say, “We can’t be brave without fear.” I am a Boxing author at EssentiallySports and was first drawn to the boxing gym when a friend of mine came to meet me with her hand wraps still on. After arranging enough resources, I joined the gym and eventually tried my hand at MMA as well. A challenging sparring session always left me slightly bruised but happy. I have always enjoyed watching a good fight. Watching Mike Tyson demonstrate what rigorous and disciplined training can achieve motivates me to this day. Amanda Nunes is another beast that I look up to. My coverage of Tyson Fury and Francis Ngannou received considerable appreciation as many unknown facets of these entities had been brought to light. Though I could not continue my training in boxing, I have kept myself busy and active through dancing. Outside the ring, I currently train in jazz and hip-hop.
