Serrano came out of the match with her IBF, WBO and WBA titles still in tact. Jake Paul, the ‘Problem Child’, posted the above video on his story, calling Serrano a “Gas Tank unlimited “ and lauding her for throwing over 1100 punches in the entire 12-round bout.

Women’s boxing has traditionally kept the rounds to 10 and minutes to 2. Changing it to match the rules of men’s boxing requires a degree of grit and fearlessness only the two have been able to show.

Throwing and catching so many punches naturally makes boxers more prone to getting knocked out. Not to mention the immense stamina it demands. As such, the 35-year-old Serrano had to make sure she was in top shape for the bout.

How did Serrano prepare for the bout?

In gearing up for her historic fight, Amanda Serrano and her trainer, Jordan Maldonado, devised a unique strategy.

Recognizing the need for a distinct approach, they focused on refining Serrano’s punches and mental outlook. Unlike previous bouts, Serrano wouldn’t rush to complete her moves within a round, emphasizing skill over speed.

To adapt, she intensified her training in Puerto Rico, where Maldonado arranged rigorous sparring sessions with local champions. The gruelling regimen included progressively longer rounds, challenging Serrano’s endurance. Despite initial doubts, their dedication paid off as Serrano’s body acclimated to the new routine.

This intense preparation aimed not just for victory but also to redefine the standards of women’s boxing.

It is safe to say now that Serrano and Ramos have together changed the face of women’s boxing forever. All it takes is an idea and the will to execute it to make a humongous mark in history. Witnessing the kind of support the boxer received while devising the plan, fans hope more female boxers come forward and take on this challenge.
