The 25-year-old has recently been involved in drama against his promotion, The Golden Boy. Garcia’s promoters Oscar Del La Hoya and Bernard Hopkins have been criticized on multiple occasions, leading up to the fight against Duarte. Garcia expressed his dissatisfaction on social media, raising issues with undervaluation and contractual terms, which led to a public rift. Amidst this controversy, Rising star Floyd Schofield Jr., who also fought in the undercard of the fight, has recently presented a different perspective about Golden Boy Promotions in an interview.

In the interview with Mr.Moonshine, Schofield says, “Everybody wanna talk and all this other stuff, cause you know they just wanna jump on a bandwagon about the talk with Ryan and him. But, they don’t get to experience what we get to experience on a daily basis. Oscar checking in day-to-day, Bernard coming in my camp and helping me out.”. He talks about how Golden Boy has garnered hate from the boxing realm despite the love they have showered on him.

Schofield also calls Golden Boy his family. He mentions how everyone called his dad, Floyd Schofield, crazy for making his decision. However, it has been one of the best decisions of his life. Schofield has secured a co-main event on a big card like Garcia vs. Duarte only at the age of 21. His career trajectory is only set to go higher from here. While the controversy between Garcia and Oscar might not end without settlements, it seems Schofield has no complaints with Golden Boy.
