It takes a different kind of courage to see everything you worked for be taken away and still dare to find happiness and meaning in life again. As Nick Blackwell, with a massively swollen eye, stood unable to fight, Chris Eubank Jr. grabbed his middleweight title. What they did not see coming was a brain haemorrhage which would leave the 19- 4 boxer incapable of stepping into a ring ever again.

The boxer had a 75% chance of death and an 85% chance of partial paralysis. However, the youngest boxer to win the British middleweight title not only managed to survive but also stayed physically active. What seemed like a miracle could only be achieved by the sheer willpower that Blackwell demonstrated. Blackwell used his example in a recent post to urge fans to live their lives to the fullest.

Nick Blackwell walks down memory lane

The clip that the former boxer posted on his X account started with his prime boxing days. A smiling Blackwell walked around in the ring, flaunting his hard-earned belt as spectators cheered. It transitioned to a picture of Blackwell with his swollen eye, which was the first sign of his injury. The fighter had documented his long stay at the hospital, where he continued to throw weak punches in the air while lying on the white bed.

His next task was to get out of the wheelchair and regain his motor skills. The heart-touching compilation ended with a shirtless Blackwell sitting by the beach, throwing rocks in the water. Now on the road to recovery, occasionally using a wheelchair, he posted a clip to his social media. He captioned the video, LIFE CAN CHANGE IN THE BLINK OF AN EYE Mine changed and all my hopes and dreams were crushed…… Lifes short live every second with no regrets”. Fans have extended their love and support for the boxer.
