Ruiz Jr. who in a huge upset, defeated Anthony Joshua in 2019 to win the WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, and IBO titles, has taken the center stage yet again. Since the news came to public view when Michael Benson let it out in a tweet, fans have reacted with a fervour.

As the tweet read, “Andy Ruiz Jr will face Tyrone Spong in a heavyweight clash on July 16th in Mexico. Fight will headline a Triller card.”

A user by the username, @DorisPMcMillan wrote, “Ruiz ruined his career like no one else. Sad really.” As if they believe it is the beginning of the end. Tyrone Spong, who has actively taken part in a wide variety of combat sports, is indeed a ferocious threat. MMA, Kickboxing, and now Boxing, Spong does have a long list to cite on his resume. Hopefully, this wouldn’t be Ruiz Jr’s end.

To add to the burn, another user, by the id @joececchini, commented, “He is this generation’s Buster Douglas. Ruined Schmuined. Dude got lucky.” An interesting allusion this individual makes. On February 11, 1990, Buster Douglas KOed Mike Tyson in one of the greatest upsets. He was considered lucky to have done so. According to, @joececchini, Andy Ruiz Jr. enjoyed more or less the same fate when he beat Joshua.
