Once, Mike Tyson‘s infamous 4 a.m. confrontation in front of Dapper Dan’s Boutique cost him $45000 in court against a former opponent. Because of this, his title fight against Frank Bruno was also delayed. This opponent was none other than Mitch Green, who could never defeat Tyson inside the ring but definitely left a mark on his career. In 1988, he was part of a notorious New York Gang, and he thought Tyson was trespassing on his turf when he was in Harlem to pick up a white leather jacket, according to talkSPORT.
So, Green barged into the shop and started insulting the then-heavyweight boxer. In his autobiography, ‘Undisputed Truth’, he revealed that he was drunk at that time and threw the first punch after Green ripped his shirt pocket. Amidst the brawl, Tyson finally threw his signature uppercut to put down his rival. All of this gave him a hairline fracture in his right hand, which delayed his fight with Bruno. A couple of years ago, he expressed a desire to engage in a street fight, just like the one he had with Green.
But before this encounter, Tyson and Mitch Green had gone against each other in the ring back in 1986. But Green managed to go the distance with the knockout master as he clenched him throughout the fight, but didn’t deliver much offensively. Throughout the fight, Tyson threw more punches and body shots than Green, he outworked ‘Blood’ for his money. Tyson won the bout easily by unanimous decision, with two scorecards of 9-1 and one of 8-2.
