After Canelo Alvarez defeated Billy Joe Saunders in 2021, Demetrius Andrade called out the Mexican phenom. However, Alvarez insulted and ignored Andrade. In this context, ahead of Demetrius Andrade vs. David Benavidez scheduled for November 25th, Terence Crawford claimed the politics of boxing kept fighters like Demetrius Andrade away from the fights they deserved.

Besides, criticizing the manner in which the sport functioned, ‘Bud’ feared that Andrade might not face Alvarez despite defeating David. As a result, he hoped ‘Boo Boo’ would dominate Benavidez in their upcoming fight.

Terence Crawford feels Demetrius Andrade must win in a “tremendous fashion”

According to ‘Bud’ Crawford, who has recently been stripped of his IBF belt, Demetrius Andrade is another victim of the politics that runs in the veins of professional boxing. In his opinion, despite being a talented contender in the sport ‘Boo Boo’, 32-0-0, never received a chance to prove himself against the poster boys of contemporary boxing. As a result, Andrade is currently 35 and to reiterate Canelo’s insulting words has fought “nobody.”

In this context, Terence Crawford told ESPN, “[Demetrius Andrade’s] another fighter that’s being railroaded by politics in the sport of boxing that never was given his opportunity to show how great he is.” “Hopefully, he can do it come fight night with David Benavidez,” sympathetically added.

However, even if Andrade won, given popular demand, ‘Bud’ feared that Benavidez vs. Canelo would be prioritized over Canelo vs. Andrade. Hence, Crawford advised ‘Boo Boo’ to win via an extremely impressive performance which is less likely to occur with Benavidez. “Everybody [is] already matching Benavidez and Canelo against each other, and if it’s a close fight, it’s more money in Benavidez-Canelo than Andrade and Canelo. So, I feel like he’s going to have to win in tremendous fashion,” Crawford added.

So, will Andrade never get to fight Canelo Alvarez?

Why should Canelo fight Andrade after Benavidez fight?

Benavidez is the younger opponent. And, as ‘Red Flag’ recently said, there is a chance that Canelo would wait him out given the Undisputed Super Middleweight champion feels threatened by Benavidez. At this, if Benavidez vs. Andrade is somehow a close fight, to avoid risks, Canelo just might consider facing Andrade instead of ‘Red Flag’.
