Ever since his fight with Canelo Alvarez in 2022, Dmitry Bivol insisted on fighting for an undisputed title in the sport. Likewise, for the Russian boxer, it was either a rematch with Canelo Alvarez at 168 lbs for the latter’s Undisputed Super-Middleweight title or a fight against Unified Light-Heavyweight champion, Artur Beterbiev. However, since the fight with Canelo did not come to fruition, Bivol focused on Beterbiev. Finally, Beterbiev vs. Bivol seems to have a future in the sport.

As per the latest updates, although a contract has yet to be signed, Dmitry Bivol and Artur Beterbiev will likely lock horns on June 1 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. As expected, the duo will compete for the Undisputed Light-Heavyweight title of the world. In this context, it is worth mentioning that while Bivol is 22-0-0, Beterbiev flexes a record of 20-0-0. Additionally, while Bivol has won 50% of his fights via knockouts, Beterbiev has a 100% KO rate in the sport. Of course, Beterbiev will be the hardest test Bivol has faced in the ring.

I feel combat sport is a representation of life inside a cage or ring. There is fear, struggle, and the will to be free. It has a poetic quality.
