Now, a similar situation has surfaced with his son. Arturo Gatti Jr. was found hanging in an apartment in Mexico, where he lived with his mother, Amanda Rodrigues, Gatti Sr.’s widow. The manner of his death closely resembled the way his father passed away. Initial news reports mentioned no confirmation of foul play or the role of a third party. However, a new development has changed the tone of the story. The family now says that authorities are investigating Gatti Jr.’s death as a homicide. They have also sought public support through a GoFundMe campaign, aiming to raise $16,000 to meet the rising legal and forensic costs.

Boxing legend’s family confirms homicide probe into Arturo Gatti Jr.’s death
The outlet World Boxing News published an exclusive report featuring details from a statement released by Versace Gatti, Arturo Jr.’s cousin. She thanked everyone who offered support and prayers ‘to uncover the truth’ about her cousin’s untimely death. Versace stated, “We have received documentation from authorities indicating the case is being investigated as a homicide.” Now, the family has launched coordinated legal and investigative efforts across Mexico, Canada, and the United States.
Arturo Jr.’s death occurred in Mexico, but the Gatti family is based in Canada. It seems they have filed motions to preserve the remains, secure access to evidence and case files, and begin independent forensic reviews. The process has already involved significant costs, including attorneys, filings, travel, and document retrieval. The family has also hired a U.S.-based forensic investigation team with experience in international cases.

Arturo Gatti Jr. – A young boxer’s journey cut short
Having faced intense scrutiny after the 2009 death of Arturo Gatti Sr., the family now seeks a thorough and transparent investigation into the loss of his son. Born in 2008, Arturo Gatti Jr. hoped to carry the legacy of his father, who thrilled boxing fans in the early 2000s. Fans still cherish Gatti Sr.’s unforgettable trilogy with ‘Irish’ Mickey Ward. The younger Gatti had relocated to Mexico to train for a professional boxing career.
He was only eight months old when his father, a two-division world champion, was found dead in Ipojuca, Brazil.
In his tribute, former world champion Jean Pascal wrote, “Sixteen years after losing his father, the world loses another Gatti. The son of a legend, two fighters, one legacy, both gone too soon. May they reunite in peace. My heart is heavy… Life can be unfair sometimes. I’m sending strength, love, and prayers to his family. May he rest in power, like his father, a true warrior. 😢🙏🏾🕊️🕊️”
Perhaps, with the ongoing investigation, the family will finally find the answers they have sought for years. What are your thoughts on this situation?
