The day before yesterday, 2024, United States presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the nephew of President John F. Kennedy, commented on a clip from ‘The JRE.’ Joe Rogan was in discussion with the United States Army reserve officer and former member of the House of Representatives Tulsi Gabbard. Though not visible in the clip, the show hosted another guest, mixed martial arts legend BJ Penn. The discussion was on the Maui wildfire tragedy and, more significantly, the resettlement plans.

Early in August, wildfires devastated the island of Maui in Hawaii, United States. Per several accounts, over a hundred people died, while the status of many remains unaccounted for. Primarily wind-driven, the fires caused widespread damage. Reportedly, the powerful high-pressure region north of Hawaii and Hurricane Dora triggered the rapid spread of the flames.
Something concrete and more for the Maui wildfire victims
By official accounts, the damage caused by the wildfires stood at around $5.5 billion. So, during the discussion, Joe Rogan said, “…we were looking at the amount of money that was accidentally sent to Ukraine like they [they] over sent 6 billion, and then I said well, how much would it cost to rebuild every house in the Maui fire, and it’s 5 billion five billion something, yeah like they that’s just like accidental money, but there’s no talk of doing that there’s no talk of doing that...”
It will not be the first time Joy Phelps speaks on an issue that concerns everyone. A few months ago, she spoke out vociferously while coming across a public bullying incident. According to the National Fire Protection Association, the Maui wildfire ranks among the worst in US history. Especially the fire in Lahaina, which destroyed roughly 80% of the place, is ‘among the top ten deadliest wildfires on record since 1871.’
