None of Artur Beterbiev‘s opponents survived to hear the final bell. But it seems Callum Smith is ready to change that. The Englishman is the youngest of four brothers, all of whom have competed for world honors and won British titles. In terms of aptitude and future potential, Callum stands out the most. Smith and Beterbiev were set to go up against each other on August 19, however, the fight was postponed.

‘Mundo’, a former super middleweight champion who has been scheming to bring down the reigning light heavyweight champion, will look to secure the victory this weekend. Artur Beterbiev’s ability goes unquestioned. Even Smith realizes that. He also realizes that Beterbiev is not invincible. Smith talked of his mindset going into this fight.

Callum Smith confident about beating Beterbiev?

In the press conference, Smith touched upon a lot of topics ahead of his fight against the champion. When asked for his thoughts about the fight, he said, “Bit exciting. It’s a very good fight, he’s a champion, he is a three belt champion, so his achievements speak for themselves,” acknowledging Beterbiev’s abilities. But, he believes in himself. He proceeded to say, “I believe the best version of me beats anyone in the world, and I fully stand by that.”

Smith’s improvement over the last few years is evident, and he reiterates it, saying, “believe I’ve improved a lot over the last couple of years and the time’s now I’m ready to become a two-division world champion.” His persistence and dedication to the sport makes him worthy of a title. He appreciates the opportunity presented to him and says, “I’ve been presented with the opportunity this weekend and it’s an opportunity I plan on taking.” While Smith is confident in his abilities, how much of his prowess do Beterbiev’s trainers acknowledge?

Beterbiev’s trainers realize Smith’s strength

It seems that Artur Beterbiev and his team are not taking Smith lightly, in the slightest. A win over the Englishman would set Beterbiev up for a fight against Dmitry Bivol. But all the team’s focus is on the opponent at hand. Beterbiev’s chief trainer said, “He’s one of the best opponents we’ve faced up to now” while talking about Smith.

He proceeded to say, “He’s a guy who is complete, a good boxer who has great quickness, who punches hard, who is durable, and who has proven it during a fight, in his decision loss to Canelo.” appreciating Smith’s abilities and power. But they are also confident in their fighter’s abilities.
