With less than a month left for the coveted fight between Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury, the boxing world has landed in a spiral of excitement and anticipation. Promotions for the massive event are in full swing, and as a part of these efforts, the organizers have released the latest poster featuring the two heavyweight titans.
On the 17th of February, at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, a historic face-off will ensue between WBA, WBO, and IBF titlist, Usyk and his WBC counterpart, Fury. At the end of fight night, with the unification of the four belts, an undisputed champion will emerge, a title unheld since 1999. To commemorate the historic clash, an iconic poster has been made. Do fans like it? A lively debate has taken course to ascertain that.

The clash of the pirates?
Boxing insider, Michael Benson took to his X, formerly Twitter, to update his following on the new poster for the Usyk vs. Fury fight. In it, with official logos of stakeholders, featured are the men of the hour, ‘The Cat’ and ‘The Gypsy King’ decked in fierce looks that resemble pirates. A dark background encapsulates their fight’s title ‘Ring of Fire’, taking center stage. Fans were excited about the poster, yes. However, their dissonance of expression stemmed from the theme of it, which seemed to make no correlation to what was happening.

Calling it the official poster of the event, the reporter captioned the post, “Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk latest official ‘Ring of Fire’ fight poster ahead of Feb 17th…” This is not the first poster that the organizers have released for the event. Earlier, another poster in which both the fighters dressed as cowboys had made rounds of the internet. In light of both these posters making their appearance, some fans expressed their curiosity regarding the themes of the designs, while others could not help but predict the outcome of the fight.
“cowboys last week, now they’re pirates…”
Without wasting much time, one avid fan of the fight dived right into what the outcomes of the clash might look like. They suggested that if Fury brought the mentality with which he fought Francis Ngannou last year, his Ukrainian opponent take home the win. In October 2023,
If the Tyson that fought Ngannou turns up it’s going to be an easy night for Usyk

Coming to the themes that organizers have lately been touching on. For December’s ‘Day of Reckoning’ clash, they imbibed a zombie-themed aesthetic. And now for the ‘Ring of Fire’ card, it’s cowboys and pirates. What’s the inspiration behind all of these, questioned a fan.
They put on great events in Saudi, but the zombie theme before that was nearer Xmas than Halloween, the knockout chaos computer theme and now this pirate gimmick WTF’s it all about? Bit cringe if you ask me, just no need

Another fan questioned the transition of aesthetics from cowboy-themed to pirates now.
They were cowboys last week, now they’re pirates…

Then came a fan with sarcasm and wit strapped to their sleeves.
i guess they’re assuming that this is gonna be the biggest PIRATEd ppv fight of all time 🤣🤦♂️ #boxing

However, there was one fan who had their own complaints to levy. The time zone difference between Saudi Arabia and the US will make the fight come on the air in the afternoon.
These fights being in saudi just ruin everything for us in America … who wants to watch a ppv fight at 1pm ET ?? Trash
