Bob Arum, Oscar De La Hoya, and the Boxing Community React to Marvin Hagler’s Death

Marvin Hagler, the middleweight boxer who saw an astonishing career in boxing, took his last breath on Saturday. His wife, Kay Hagler, confirmed the death on Facebook on Hagler’s verified fan club page.
She wrote, “I am sorry to make a very sad announcement, Today unfortunately my beloved husband Marvelous Marvin passed away unexpectedly at his home here in New Hampshire. Our family requests that you respect our privacy during this difficult time.”
Hagler was one of the greatest boxers to come out of America, and his death put everyone in deep shock. That said, the whole boxing community including some bigwigs reacted to the legend’s death.

The CEO of Top Rank Promotions, Bob Arum, who also promoted Hagler once, took it to his official Twitter handle to mourn over the death of the legend.
“Marvelous Marvin Hagler was among the greatest athletes that Top Rank ever promoted. He was a man of honor and a man of his word, and he performed in the ring with unparalleled determination. He was a true athlete and a true man. I will miss him greatly,” he wrote.

‘Golden Boy’ Oscar De La Hoya too shared the same notion and wrote:

Marvin Hagler – the elite boxing star
‘Marvelous’ debuted in the year 1973. Back then, no one expected him to go this big in the sport. He rose to the top with constant wins and won his first titles in the sport 7 years after his debut. After that, there was no turning back for him.

Hagler last competed in 1987 against Sugar Ray Leonard. He lost this bout with a split decision and hung up his gloves.
