Bob Arum Reveals Whether He’ll Ever Sign Canelo Alvarez

Legendary promoter Bob Arum has always eyed star-fighters and Canelo Alvarez is clearly one of his desired signings. Top Rank Promotions have been creating superstars for ages, with the likes of Muhammad Ali, Manny Pacquiao, Floyd Mayweather, and many others. As Alvarez is already an A-lister, Top Rank can further nourish his legacy.
After splitting from the Golden Boy Promotions, the P4P king has worked with Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom for his last three fights. All of them have been commercially successful and Alvarez is now preparing to fight Caleb Plant on November 6, once again under the Matchroom banner.

Amid this, he can also slide into the Top Rank roster. In a chat with Fight Hype, Bob Arum opened up on the Mexican superstar.
Mikey Garcia’s Losses: Who Has Defeated Him?
He said, “I have great admiration for Canelo and Eddy Reynoso, you know, even on a personal friendly basis. So, I would love the opportunity to promote a Canelo.”
Meanwhile, Eddie Hearn and Canelo Alvarez may not part ways soon. The pair have been providing blockbuster events together with their fourth fight on the way. As Alvarez seems to have a friendly and successful relationship with Hearn, it may restrict him from negotiating with Bob Arum’s Top Rank Promotions ahead.

Alvarez’s exit from Golden Boy Promotions was a massive setback to Oscar De La Hoya’s stable. The current unified super middleweight champion was the biggest name in Golden Boy Promotions, and his exit created a void that is yet to be filled. Meanwhile, Hearn saw it as a massive opportunity and added Canelo Alvarez into his stellar roster.
Now, Arum has his eyes on the P4P star. However, Alvarez can continue bagging big deals. Given that he is currently one of the biggest names in all of boxing, he doesn’t need to rely on any promoter for that. Hence, it justifies the race between the promoters to sign him to their respective banners.
