Bob Arum Wants Shakur Stevenson to Face Gervonta Davis in the Near Future: “Nobody Wants to See Shakur Fighting Walkovers”

Shakur Stevenson, just a month ago, fought and defeated the then WBC super-featherweight champion, Oscar Valdez. In an excellent performance, taking full advantage of his physique, Stevenson dominated Valdez throughout the scheduled twelve rounds. Given his relatively shorter height and reach, Valdez fell vividly short against Stevenson, and the latter intelligently snatched a win.

Following Stevenson vs. Valdez, a series of events took their place in professional boxing. On one hand, Gervonta Davis squared off with Rolando Romero, and on the other, now Devin Haney has walked toward facing George Kambosos Jr. inside Australia’s Marvel.

Fight Hub TV recently sat with the boxing promoter, Bob Arum, and discussed Stevenson’s career in boxing.

What fights would Bob Arum want for Shakur Stevenson in his near future in boxing?

With Fight Hub TV, Arum talked about the current lightweight division and the young fighters who currently run it. Shakur Stevenson was the name that stood out, and upon it, Arum laid some significant stress.

On being asked whether Arum would be interested in seeing fights such as Stevenson vs. Davis or Stevenson vs. Haney, the following is what he told:

“I don’t see a reason why not. I mean Shakur is obviously an elite talent. And is competitive against any of these guys. He’s a very tough guy to beat, Shakur, as he’s demonstrated. So yeah, I mean we in the years, months, and years ahead, we’re going to put Shakur in with these types of fighters,” told Arum.

Having complemented Stevenson on his will to compete, Arum continued with his future plans.

“Nobody wants to see Shakur fighting walkovers. They want to see him tested. And Shakur, to his credit, wants to be tested,” he added.

Shakur Stevenson,24, has a height of 5 feet and 7 inches.
