“Boxing Community Is Dismayed”: Julio Cesar Chavez Sr. Issues Official Statement on Son’s Arrest, WBC President Shares His Support For the Legendary Family

Julio Cesar Chavez is one world’s most renowned boxers. Following his legacy, his son Julio Cesar Chavez Jr  decided to walk a similar path. However, with great fame and success comes distractions. Chavez Jr unfortunately is a victim of these distractions as he continues to indulge in hallucinogens and other substances. This time it went a little too far.

His father has raised concern over his son countless times. The legend mentions how he is worried that his son will go crazy from all the pills he is taking. To make matters worse, Chavez Jr has been arrested yet again and his father took to social media to issue a statement. WBC’s president has shown his support to the family during these turbulent times. How has he reacted to such a situation?

Chavez Jr was arrested for the possession of an illegal firearm. In the statement, his father thanked the audience for showing support to his son. He then confirmed his arrest saying, “Unfortunately  I confirm the news that spread today. My son Julio Cesar Chavez Jr was arrested and we are working together with his lawyers to resolve his legal situation.” He then proceeded to say how he hopes that this incident finally propels his son towards a happy life.

WBC’s president, Mauricio Sulaiman expressed what the entire community was feeling. He wrote, “The national and world boxing community is dismayed with the current situation of our champion Julio César Chávez jr.” He showed his conditional support to the family and the legend JC Chavez himself.

The president ended his note by assuring the people that everything would be fine in God’s favor. Chavez Jr has strayed from the path that his father built, it is saddening for both the audience and his family, the situation he has put himself in. Moreover, this is not the first time.

In recent months, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., son of the legendary boxer Julio Cesar Chavez Sr., has faced a series of challenges involving mental health and legal issues. TMZ Sports reported on November 5, 2022, that Chavez Jr.’s wife, Frida Chavez, contacted authorities in Hollywood on October 24. She expressed concern that Chavez Jr. had ingested a concerning quantity of pills and might need medical attention.

Following this, under the 5150 California law, which allows officials to detain someone for 72 hours if they pose a danger to themselves or others, Chavez Jr. was taken to a psychiatric facility. Even Chavez Sr. voiced worries about his son’s pill consumption, fearing potential accidents or health issues. Despite not experiencing a heart attack, Chavez Jr. did find himself in legal trouble with the authorities.
