New York State Boxing Hall of Fame (NYSBHOF) inductee Rick Glaser has a further update on Al Haymon‘s Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) and its impending fate. The veteran matchmaker had spoken about the promotions in a tweet two days ago. He shared that talks have been going around over the fate of PBC for some time. So much so that even with purported Saudi Arabian help, the chances of a sinking ship like the PBC turning itself around appear slim, he wrote.

In his latest post, Glaser mentioned the high possibility of PBC facing an expeditious decline. It could happen seemingly due to the absence of an investor, it seems. The promotion has an upcoming mega show lined up for June 15. However, it might as well be the last event under the Amazon Prime-PBC partnership. It features Gervonta Davis vs. Frank Martin and David Benavidez vs. Oleksandr Gvozdyk title fights. As most fans might recall, last year Showtime exited boxing. Long-time partner Haymon’s PBC subsequently inked a deal with Amazon Prime. It gave the latter rights to air PPV fights across the U.S. The first show under the new deal came about on March 30. The Tim Tszyu vs. Sebastian Fundora fight headlined it.

Rumors abound that if a deal for an investor doesn’t happen quickly, PBC is on the verge of total collapse,” said Rick Glaser, adding further, “And from a very reliable source, the June 15 show featuring a #TankDavis & #DavidBenavidez doubleheader is going to be #AmazonPrime‘s last #Boxing event with #PBC, no matter how many PPV buys it does.

According to him, often on account of anomalies in PBC’s functioning, the promotion has been successful in retaining ‘TV/Streaming partners’. Especially, Amazon Prime might as well be the eleventh ‘TV/Streaming’ partner Haymon’s promotions are parting ways with.

Rick Glaser seemingly painted a bleak outlook for the PBC. He further wrote that other promotions, such as Top Rank, Golden Boy Promotions, and Matchroom Boxing, have boxing events lined up until August and September. But PBC doesn’t have any scheduled after June 15. “Could thee end be near, or is there a Hail Mary sweetheart investor coming forth with more money for Al Haymon to squander away!!!” He said.

Two days ago, Rick Glaser wrote about how an array of talks and theories about PBC have been doing the rounds. In a strongly worded opinion, he said that the promotion might as well be deserving of a wind-up.

Whispers of an Approaching Crisis

Lots of rumors & speculation in regards to #PBC floating around. But in truth, for the damage that #AlHaymon & PBC has done to the business & sport of #Boxing, Haymon & PBC unequivocally deserve to go out of business,” said the NYSBHOF matchmaker.

So he mentioned a scenario where His Excellency Turki Alalshikh might decide to pitch in and help PBC. But even then, according to him, the measure might be a fleeting one. Why? “Because they don’t have a business plan that is profitable, have aging fighters, don’t have thee [Executives] in place to succeed, those [Executives] don’t have empathy for Boxing, & the damage has been done.

Even injecting fresh capital will not resolve the underlying issues, Glaser stressed toward the end. Instead, it will only delay the inevitable shutdown. Finally, he wished the best to anyone coming to the aid of a ‘dead Dinosaur’.
