In this dual spectacle weekend, Las Vegas promises sports fans a thrilling mix of Formula 1 and world-class boxing. After his last victory against Shuichiro Yoshino via TKO earlier this year, Shakur Stevenson was back to showcase his boxing prowess against Edwin De Los Santos. The fight was held at the T-Mobile Arena for the vacant WBC lightweight champion after Devin Haney left it vacant to move up in weight.
Though Stevenson failed to make the fight against Haney at the time, he finally had a chance to become a champion in the lightweight division as well. However, his performance appeared to be lackluster, to say the least, leaving a lot of fans dissatisfied. Interestingly, prior to the fight, boxing champion Terence Crawford had some high hopes for the young boxer.

Crawford holds Shakur Stevenson in high stead
Terence Crawford shocked the world with his performance against Errol Spence Jr. in their title fight for the undisputed welterweight championship a couple of months ago. His performance was such that his fame skyrocketed ever since. Moreover, he even left behind Canelo Alvarez and became the number one pound-for-pound boxer in the world. Notably, he is the first boxer to become a two-division undisputed champion, carving an unprecedented legacy for years to come.
Interestingly, it seems that he sees young Shakur Stevenson as someone who will eventually follow in his footsteps and reach such great heights. Recently he shared a picture of himself along with Floyd Mayweather, Andre Ward, and Stevenson. In the Instagram post, he claimed, “Four generations of #1 P4P all I one picture!!! @shakurstevenson @andresogward @floydmayweather”. His statement showcases the potential the champion sees in the 26-year-old boxer. Moreover, ‘Bud’ and ‘Sugar’ have also recently announced partnerships with PRIME.
Fans react to Crawford’s prediction for Stevenson
As the post on social media quickly took off and went viral, the fans were quick to share their reaction. Although many agreed with Crawford’s statement, there were a lot of fans who held a different view as well. One fan discredited Crawford’s position as the number one P4p fighter. He stated, “You are not the p4p fighter right now my brotha! Don’t get things twisted! Canelo Reigns supreme. The day you go up 5 weight divisions and win titles in each of them, then you can talk.”

Another fan brought up ‘Bud’s last bout against Spence Jr. and stated, “Mannn earl spence needa redeem himself it still feel crazy til this day”. Meanwhile, a fan stated that Shakur has yet to reach the same status as the other three boxers in the picture. He wrote, “I love Shakur but he is not on the same level as Crawford, Ward, Mayweather. He gotta do more. Comparing him to those 3 guys is disrespectful”.

Someone else added, “The amount of Boxing IQ in this photo is over 9000…”. Moreover, one fan called it “pic of the year fasho”. Another fan called Mayweather, Ward, and Crawford “3 Icons and Legends”, and shared his hope for Stevenson to eventually reach the same status as them.
