Hopes for Terence Crawford and Errol Spence Jr. to face off are dwindling. Apparently, negotiations were close to being successful in 2022 but ultimately failed due to certain conflicts and Crawford’s desire for independence from a controlling promoter.

Crawford may not be willing to compromise if negotiations for a fight with Spence start up again, especially if he can make a good payday fighting a second-tier contender on an unknown platform like his recent fight with David Avanesyan on BLK Prime.

On the other hand, Spence has his hands full of upcoming fights. His long list of opponents includes Keith Thurman, Jaron “Boots” Ennis, and the winner of the WBA “regular” title fight between Vergil Ortiz and Eimantas Stanionis. Winning against these opponents would solidify Spence’s reputation without having to fight Crawford, while Crawford might be left with less desirable options.
