To many fans it might appear the rules of this boxing ‘game’ have been written with invisible ink. So does that mean Conor McGregor retains the eraser? It’s been weeks since the former UFC champion dropped a bombshell. Following the loss to Dustin Poirier, McGregor hasn’t been inside a cage. To the ring, he might as well be a stranger. Professionally, he hasn’t fought since the tenth-round KO loss to Floyd Mayweather Jr.

An injury dealt a severe setback to the potential return against Michael Chandler. By mid-December last year, he posted a message revealing that talks were in place for a boxing match against Logan Paul. Hosted by one of Asia’s richest families—the Ambani—the potential fight in India suggested a $250 million purse. New updates followed as days passed. It appeared that instead of Logan, younger brother Jake Paul would step in the ring against McGregor. But it seems the ball hasn’t stopped rolling. It has now camped outside KSI‘s door. It’s still not clear where the matchup with the English YouTuber-turned-boxer stands currently. When asked, the co-president of KSI’s promotional venture, Misfits Boxing, had a rather peculiar response.

Mams Taylor: I can’t shed any more light on it

Mams Taylor joined Brandon ‘BDave’ Davis for a tête-à-tête on the ‘Kick’ live stream. A YouTuber from Los Angeles who commands over 100,000 followers on Instagram, the Misfits boxer, read a question on his phone: “Is KSI-Conor going to happen? Is that real?

Waving his left hand, Mams Taylor glanced at ‘BDave’ and motioned a zip-up gesture. The YouTuber-boxer mentioned that he had earlier shared that Taylor won’t be responding to all the queries, to which the Misfits Boxing head added, “I can’t.

That basically sums it up for now. Fans and viewers are left to their discretion. Some may treat it as denial. Otherwise, the hopefuls, who seem to have some insight on the news, might view the update as sitting on the fence. Talks might be in place; however, it could still be too early to confirm anything.

Yesterday, @ksinews_ shared, “BREAKING: KSI is rumored to step in and fight Conor McGregor with Logan Paul focusing on WWE 😳.” Soon KSI topped up the message, revealing that it’s not ‘rumored’; rather, he’s ‘very down’ in it. His Instagram story seemed pretty direct: “Let’s make this happen, @TheNotoriousMMA.

The challenges KSI must overcome

Some fans will be genuinely keen to see how far this development stretches. For one, KSI may not be as big a name as Logan Paul, who also happens to be his business partner. Unlike his younger brother Jake, the elder Paul has experienced mixed results in the ring. However, in the entertaining world of the WWE, he is definitely one of the biggest stars.

KSI hasn’t been inside the ring since his questionable loss to Tommy Fury in October 2023. The previous match against Joe Fournier also met with a dubious end. Against him, Conor McGregor presents a formidable challenge. He gassed out towards the end before yielding to Mayweather Jr.’s technical wizardry. However, the very fact that he fought one of boxing’s greatest up to the tenth round speaks volumes about his boxing skills.

Fans will have to wait and watch how things eventually turn on ‘The Notorious’ boxing return. He has already released an alert flare to Logan Paul: “$250,000,000. #ImComing.

What about you? Which matchup would you prefer: Conor McGregor vs. KSI or Conor McGregor vs. Logan Paul?
