After almost 5 years of the high-voltage Money Fight between Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather, there is a rumor about a potential rematch. The first fight took place in August 2017, and at that time, Floyd Mayweather was 49-0, whereas Conor McGregor was the biggest name in the UFC. An estimated 50 million people worldwide watched this epic clash in combat sports. Now, after all the years when Mayweather has officially retired from pro boxing and McGregor is definitely not where he was five years back, will a second Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor match take place?

Referring to the first Conor McGregor vs. Floyd Mayweather match, which was long held to be a rumor until it finally came into being, Espinoza said, “Whole thing with Floyd and Conor was rumored. I don’t know for six-nine months. Almost a year before, it really got into real discussions.” Here’s what Stephen Espinoza, the President of Showtime Sports, added next.

The Conor McGregor vs. Floyd Mayweather 2 is probably in making

According to Espinoza’s words, for almost a year, the ‘Money Fight’ was a rumor. However, Floyd Mayweather spoke it into existence, and the match was a reality. Espinoza feels the same is most probably happening right now. The Showtime Sports President said, “It’s almost as if Floyd spoke it into existence. And that maybe is happening right now.”

Looking at Espinoza’s words, one can deduce that there is a possibility for a second fight between ‘Money’ and ‘The Notorious.’ However, one question remains – ‘will a second Mayweather vs. McGregor generate the same hype and audience it did before?’ Espinoza’s words might fuel hope, but earlier Dana White explicitly stated that he had zero interest in seeing the second fight.

As Espinoza himself said, will someone, McGregor or Mayweather, again be able to speak the bout into existence? Only time will answer these queries. For the time being, all fans can do is wait and watch.
