Finally, Conor Benn can heave a sigh of relief. Last week, the United Kingdom Anti-Doping (UKAD) canceled the provisional suspension of Conor Benn. In force since March 15 this year, it came about following the boxer’s failure to clear two voluntary drug tests last year. With the UKAD removing the final hurdle on his return trip, the British Boxing Board of Control (BBBofC) will reportedly examine the appeal to reinstate his right to fight in the UK. Understandably elated, the twenty-six-year-old son of legend Nigel Benn took it out on all those who questioned him and badly wanted his career to end ignobly.

The ball started rolling towards Benn’s court, with the WBC clearing him of the charges of ‘intentional doping.’ Now it was left to the UKAD and the BBBofC to decide his fate. Benn surrendered his boxing license on October 21.

So through his Instagram history, Conor Benn opened up about certain fighters and critics who couldn’t fathom his success. He pointed out that harshness and resentment are powerful emotions, but no matter how hard they try, the naysayers would never be able to replace him. “So many fighters/pundits can’t stand my success… bitterness and envy is one hell of a thing… but you will never be me…. relevant,” he wrote.

Among the voices that raised eyebrows when the UKAD news came through was IBF Flyweight champion Sunny Edwards. He asked for more background on the move through his Twitter account. Calling the drug testing procedures a sham, he added that one needs to cough up a small fortune to hire a brilliant legal team. They will pick up enough legal flaws to exploit. So that nullifies any questions about what flows in the bloodstream.

Edwards aired his misgivings on the Conor Benn issue earlier as well. In May, he tweeted, “I think Conor Benn is one of the most obvious cases I’ve seen. Haven’t got to be a body language or non-verbal expert to tell he’s been lying every time he’s been in front of the camera since getting caught..

Interestingly, both Sunny Edwards and Conor Benn are stablemates at Matchroom Sports.

What’s next for Conor Benn?

Boxing King Media shared a clip where Conor Benn spoke about his hardships. He said, “The evidence has matched up. So what more do you want me to do? I spent hundreds of thousands on this. What more do you want me to do? I’ve employed doctors, I’ve employed scientists, three scientists. And you lot still think I’am guilty?…

The UKAD’s statement read, “Ukad can confirm Mr. Benn is no longer provisionally suspended under the UK Anti-Doping Rules.” However, the organization stressed that it has 21 days to decide whether to go for an appeal against the decision that the National Anti-Doping Panel, an independent body, took. Meanwhile, Eddie Hearn, the Matchroom honcho and Benn’s promoter, said the boxer’s ‘nightmare is over.’ He then hinted that the WBA Continental champion would probably receive two fights. The first, a smaller one in September, and the second, perhaps much more significant, in December.
