Caleb Plant isn’t the one to lick his wounds. After a points defeat to David Benavidez, most boxers would take an easy fight to rebuild. But Plant? He’s aiming straight for the top, calling out WBC middleweight champion Jermall Charlo. This potential rematch is more than just a title shot for Plant.

It’s a chance to settle unfinished business. Back in July 2023, their encounter at the weigh-ins of  Terence Crawford vs Errol Spence Jr. got heated, resulting in a now-infamous slap from Plant. Now, Plant has called him out yet again, ready to open old wounds.

In an interview with FightHype, Caleb Plant was asked about his plans to come back this year. Plant replied that he wanted a matchup that would be a sure-shot crowd-puller. Later, Plant revealed it was an act of self-defense as Charlo had pushed him first. However, almost after a year now, Plant said, “I mean I think the Charlo fight makes the most sense you know. I know everybody else wants to see that and that’s a big fight for boxing so you know if it’s going to push the culture forward and push boxing forward and you know something that excites me? Then I want to be a part of it.

Apart from wanting to fight Charlo, he also gave his take on the prospect of a fight between his two rivals, Canelo Alvarez and David Benavidez.

Canelo Alvarez’s dream price tag might just ruin the chances of the highly anticipated fight with David Benavidez. During a recent press conference, Canelo revealed his astronomical demand: a guaranteed purse between $150 million and $200 million to step into the ring with the undefeated challenger.

Caleb Plant believes that Alvarez made such a demand because he’s aware of the risk of fighting ‘The Mexican Monster’. Talking to FightHype, he stated, “I’m not following them too closely you know, but it’s like he’s named his price for what he wants to fight him. So I’m sure he understands the risk and you know, like you said he knows he’s a bigger boy so that’s really all I got to say on.
