Caleb Plant recently ran into a banter with a fan over a statement regarding his work ethic in boxing. The fan, who seemed to be a die-hard supporter of the Mexican boxer, Canelo Alvarez, accused the former IBF middleweight title-holder of being lazy and unwilling to chase greatness.

Just a few weeks ago, Alvarez went head-to-head against the Russian pugilist, Dmitry Bivol. In a surprising outcome, Alvarez lost to Bivol via decision. While the sports community wondered about what would be Alvarez’s immediate future, only seventeen days later, Alvarez confirmed his third fight against Gennady Golovkin.

With that announced, fans cannot hold back their excitement any longer and are profusely voicing a wide range of thoughts on social media and other platforms.

Fan accuses Plant of laziness following the announcement of Canelo Alvarez vs. Gennady Golovkin III

Canelo Alvarez fought Dmitry Bivol for the latter’s light heavyweight title. The four-division world champion, Alvarez, who has a noticeable fanbase in the sport, entered highly favored by boxing enthusiasts in the fight. However, in a huge upset and with impressive skills on full display, Dmitry Bivol stunned the Mexican.

But just seventeen days after the loss, Alvarez now prepares for a trilogy against Golovkin. At this, a fan worshipping Alvarez’s busy schedule, calls out Jermall Charlo and Caleb Plant, accusing each of laziness.

“You can’t even not be a Canelo fan for this reason. @SweetHandsPlant @FutureOfBoxing clear examples of taking layoffs because of laziness and unwillingness to chase greatness,” the fan wrote.

Caleb Plant replies, taking a stand for himself

Caleb Plant faced the Mexican last year inside the MGM Grand Garden Arena. He put up a praiseworthy fight, but Alvarez snatched the win with an eleventh-round TKO over his American opponent.

With indignation by his side, Caleb Plant replied sharply to his accuser.

He wrote, “Your favorite fighter could never train harder then me. I train more consistently and am more discipline then either of them. I don’t drink EVER or party, I train year around and have been since my last fight. There’s a reason I haven’t been in the ring yet, they’ll know why soon.”

Being the athlete that Caleb Plant is, it is very much likely that he takes offense at what the fan says of him.
